Privacy Policy
Let’s get one thing straight - your privacy is imporant to us.
Of course, we still collect some information about you. In this page, we’re telling you:
- what information we collect and how we get it,
- that our advertisers also collect information about you,
- how you can hide such information from us,
- that we don’t share that information with anybody else, and
- what we do with the data we gather.
This is what we try to learn about you.
Like most other websites, we try to learn as much as we can about you. We use cookies, web bugs or beacons, and data logging, among other methods, to store some information about you.
We usually learn what your IP address, your ISP, OS, and browser are, as well as how you get here, what time you arrive, what pages you look at, how long you stay, and basically what you do around here. We might also find out other information, like whether you use Flash or what screen resolution you use. Don’t worry though. We do this discreetly - unlike some salespeople in stores around here.
We’re only trying to improve the site.
One reason we collect information about you is so we remember your name and other details when you leave a comment - that way you don’t have to type these details in every time. Another reason is so we know what content we can actually share with you. For example, we very well can’t show you our portfolio if you don’t have Flash installed, so we have to find alternate methods to do so (and by the way, we’re working on something for those of you without Flash running). We’ve got other reasons for gathering information, but rest assured that they pretty much center around improving the site.
Our advertisers are watching you too.
This site is supported by advertising. Right now, we’ve got Google AdSense, Amazon.com Associates, and BlogBank running. Some of these advertisers may also use cookies or web beacons - these usually allow them to learn your IP address, your ISP, and browser, and in some cases, whether you have Flash installed. This allows them to serve you ads that are better targetted to you.
You can hide from us.
If you don’t like cookies, you can disable them in your browser, or use other software to block them. You can also choose to selectively block some cookies (ours, our advertisers’ cookies, or anybody else’s cookies) with the same tools. This isn’t too much of a problem for us (just forgive us if we don’t remember your name), but it might affect how you see interact with other sites. In some cases, eliminating cookies could keep you from logging in or accessing your accounts on these sites.
As for your IP address, your ISP, and browser, we’re not quite sure if you can hide that. You can try using proxy servers, but we’re not quite sure how well they work.
We don’t share your information with others.
We’ll say it again - your privacy is important to us. That’s why we’re telling you that we collect some information about you, but more importantly, we keep that information private. We never sell your personal information to third parties.
Everything clear? Head on over to our House Rules to learn how we try to keep the peace around here. After that, you can get visit our portfolio or check out the blog. Enjoy!
