Great blog! These tips are really helpful in deciding which DSLR to buy. I totally agree with you that you should find one that feels comfortable in your hands above all else. I didn't do that for my first camera and I had to resell it!

Make sure you check prices from trusted resellers like Amazon, BH, etc. There are so many scam sites selling DSLR. If a price is too good to be true, it's not true.

Probably one or most difficult questions is - which lens to choose ? Keep you kit lens if you don't know what lens to buy and don't listen if somebody says that kit lens is sh*t lens. Especially because a lot of people after awhile deciding go back to p&s cameras, as dslr cameras are much heavier and bigger and don't everybody can use to it. If after couple months or a year (depends how much are using your camera) you are still using it(camera) and not satisfied with pictures quality, check some statistic of pictures you were taking during that time. Get software like ExposurePlot which analyzes focal length, aperture and it really will help to narrow list of lenses you need to look as you will see do you need wide or tele lens. Or do you really need expensive F/2.8 lens if you mostly shoot landscapes with F/8 ?
