Don’t let the image fool you, I’m not talking about UFC catsup (or ketchup, if you prefer that spelling). That UFC has been in the Philippines for quite some time. The UFC I’m talking about is the Ultimate Fighting Championship® (yes, complete with the registration mark).

Part of the way through a post on the UFC going global, I came across this:

UFC’s ambition won’t stop there. As company president White has said since he took over the company, he wants to lead the way in the growth of not just UFC but mixed martial arts all together.

“We are going global,” the 39-year-old White said. “The Philippines, Germany. We are going after Mexico.”

He actually mentioned the Philippines?!?

I don’t know how long it’ll take before the UFC actually has an event here, but I sure would be interested in tickets (or better yet, media passes – so I can bring my camera).

    I think this would expand the UFC even further around the globe! I’m Filipino and am a HUGE MMA fan! The Filipinos in the Philippines are even bigger MMA/Boxing fans because of Brandon Vera and Pacquiao. AWESOME IDEA! I HOPE THEY MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!

    Manny Pacquiao is nothing but a self centered, greedy, uneducated fuck who only cares about himself and cares not for any of the poor Filipinos even in his own home town, and his mom isn’t any better, a media-whore, so don’t mention Brandon Vera in the same sentence as Manny Pacquiao.

    But yeah if UFC eventually goes to the Philippines that would certainly be a great thing, besides boxing is boring compared to MMA.

    BTW I’m Filipino, and nung umiwi ako I got to meet Manny P through a friend, man this guy is dense and dumb as a door nail, then he surrounds himself with even dumber assistants or miron – He calls them “mga bata ko”, dumbass, get an education so you can get a clue…

    @Ludgier:
    Yeah, I really hope they make this happen. I’m not holding my breath though. It’s been quite a while since I posted this, and so far, that one post has been the only thing I’ve found mentioning the UFC’s plans for the Philippines.

    @PFA:
    WTF?!? If you want to badmouth Manny Pacquiao, or anybody else for that matter, take it somewhere else. Here I was, expressing hope that the UFC would come to the Philippines, and you take it as an opportunity to badmouth Pacquiao.

    Yeah, Ludgier mentioed Vera and Pacquiao in the same sentence – so what?!? Both Vera and Pacquia have embraced and their Filipino heritage, and their successes in their respective sports help the popularity of both MMA and boxing in the country.

    Whatever you think of them as people, I really couldn’t care less. You can rant about them if you want, but my personal blog is not the venue for that kind of crap.
