The title pretty much says it all, but I’ll say it again, nominations for 2008 Philippine Blog Awards are now open. Awards are up for grabs for best blog and best post as well as for special awards (best design, bloggers’ choice, etc.). Details and nomination forms for these divisions after the jump.
Unplugged
Starting today, I’ll be going offline for a few days - no Internet, no blogging, no computers.
I’m not going totally off the grid though - I’m just going offline for a few days. I will have my phones, and unless traffic gets unimaginably snarled up, I won’t be more than 3 hours away.
See you on the other side!
I’m a Terrorist Twice Over
It was bad enough when I read this post about anti-terror police targeting “suspicious” photographers. It highlighted the poster to the right. The text?
Thousands of people take photos every day. What if one of them seems odd?
Terrorists use surveillance to help plan attacks, taking photos and making notes about security measures like the location of CCTV cameras. If you soee someone doing that, we need to know. Let experienced officers decide what action to take.
I reacted by writing a little guide on shooting like a terrorist. Of course, I was talking about shooting photographs, but that’s beside the point. The point is that as photographer, I’m already viewed with a certain level of suspicion.
I didn’t really dig any deeper then, but now that I have and I’ve learned more about this counter-terrorism campaign directly from the source (found via thomashawk.com), I’ve learned that I’ve got two strikes against me in this whole campaign. Why?

Quiet Little Corner
This is supposed to be “the place where I write about pretty much anything I want.”
Apparently, I don’t want to write that much.
It’s ok though - with only a handful of subscribers here, it’s just a dark but cozy little corner.
Let LightChasers Photography get all the attention.

Spike!
I’m not quite sure how it happened, but somehow, it just did. What in the world am I talking about? I’ll let a screencap do the talking for me.
Over 3,600 visitors already, and it’s only around lunch time here. That may be small for some people, but if you look at the trend chart, you’ll know why that’s a big deal for me.
I’m still working towards the day when that number is nothing to write home about, but as of today, I’m amazed.
In any case, I’d like to thank Antoine Khater and Brian Auer for this post, which as far my analytics tools tell me, sent this deluge of visitors my way.
All I Want for Christmas…
I’ve been thinking a lot about what I want for the holidays. Unfortunately, a lot of the items I want (like the 40D and 24-70L, for example) are way outside most people’s budgets for gifts.
Fortunately, I’ve still got a few ideas that won’t break the bank. Yes, I’ve already mentioned some gifts for photographers under $25, but those were items I figured any photographer would appreciate.
Pictured below are some items I want for myself.

Major construction on LightChasers Photography is now over - now comes the task of tweaking, editing, and doing a little decorating here and there. Thanks to zen graffiti studios for a fantastic flash folio.
Still Under Construction
Yes, I may have made an announcement about my new sites already, but I’m still scrambling to get them looking they way I want. This dark little corner probably isn’t going to change much, but LightChasers Photography is still undergoing major changes.
Yup, the facade you see now is really just that - a facade. Somewhere you can’t them, lots of little elves are busy chipping away at both blog and portfolio. When will they be done? Nobody knows. We’re all just waiting for the announcement.
